From new characters and variants, to Solo Play mode and Graveyard Ops, there are a ton of new features to look forward to in the upcoming load of awesomeness known as Plants vs Zombies: Garden Warfare 2.
However, one of the most intriguing new features revealed in the last few weeks is the Backyard Battleground. The Backyard Battleground is a personal hub area where players can customize their characters, accept quests from Heroes, and even go target shooting. What makes this hub even more unique is the ability to raise the “Flag of Power”, which essentially initiates a horde-mode in the center of the backyard that allows players to earn extra coins and XP for each wave the flag is successfully defended. The Backyard Battleground will surely keep players busy, and that’s not even the main aspect of the game. HYYYPEEE!
There have also been quite a few new Garden Warfare 2 character variants revealed over the last few weeks. Feel free to peruse some of my character variant videos below to maximize your excitement for PvZ: Garden Warfare 2!
In other related news, I got to do some very fancy top secret stuff with some very awesome people, ZackScott and MoonLiteWolf. Maybe you know them? :p
Anyway, we took these random photobooth-GIF-things and they got posted to the internet. Check ’em out here with some other hilarious ones from the PopCap devs. If I had one of those eMotee Booth things in my house, it would take up an embarrassing amount of my time. 😃
Today, the Plants vs Zombies YouTube channel was infiltrated by a transmission from “L.E.A.F”. So who or what is L.E.A.F.? A covert team of undercover plant agents? Or is it something more deceptive?
A lot of people are speculating that this info has something to do with new DLC for Garden Warfare. However, the PvZ dev team clarified that the Legends of the Lawn DLC was the last major content update for GW, so these transmissions likely pertain to some greater PvZ project.
@vampire_vinny Legends of the Lawn was our final major content update for Garden Warfare. The team is now focused on the future. Stay tuned.
Hey Garden Warfare fans! I just wanted to let you know that we’ll be getting another new Garden Warfare DLC on Tuesday! The “Legends of the Lawn” DLC will be available for free on Tuesday, Sept. 30th for all platforms.
Also, the Plants vs Zombies team was awesome enough to let me put together this trailer for the new DLC! I’ve been bursting at the seams all weekend, waiting to share the great news with all of you. Please show your support by leaving a ‘like’ on the video, if you enjoyed it. 🙂
The Legends of the Lawn DLC features the brand new Taco Bandits mode, which is basically the PopCap version of CTF with a Garden Warfare twist. Plus, players will receive 7 new characters, as well as new consumables, customization items & gestures. This is also the debut of the new customization sets–themed item sets that are designed to fit together to create a unique ‘outfit’ for your characters. For example, the Plasma Pea has been outfitted with new Mass Effect inspired attire:
The update will also feature a level cap increase, new challenges for Garden Ops, new achievements, and various gameplay tuning & bug fixes.
I’m so stoked to get my virtual-hands on these new characters, especially the Alien Flower & Chomp Thing (a perfect name choice, btw). And once again, this DLC update is FREE! I really wish more game companies would adopt this model.
P.S. I received NO payment from PopCap to make my trailer. PopCap supplied me with the gameplay and gave me the freedom to edit it as I wished, and it was my pleasure to do so. They are simply one of the few game developers who understand the value of cross-promotion, and that community involvement is often the lifeblood of a game. 😉
Hey PvZ fans! The latest “Suburbination” DLC update for Plants vs Zombies: Garden Warfare has brought with it a whole list of new additions to the game, which you can read about in their patch notes here. Among the new additions was the highly anticipated peashooter variant, the Plasma Pea. I actually really enjoy this new character. I have put together a showcase for the Plasma Pea, which you can check out below:
Soon after the Suburbination DLC was released, PopCap announced their partnership with Cheetos to bring us two new Chester Cheetah inspired characters: Dr. Chester & Chester Chomper. However, unlike the previous new characters, these Cheetos characters are only available through sticker codes found on specially marked bags from Target stores. Needless to say, this is a very limiting promotion. Not only is Target not available everywhere, but neither are Cheetos. Plus, it seems that there are not enough sticker codes in circulation. I’ve even checked 5 different stores since the promo started, and have yet to see any sticker codes.
Fortunately, a couple of fellow PvZ YouTuber friends of mine have helped me out with some codes to give away. I am running a giveaway on Twitter until Monday 8/25. To enter, simply follow me on Twitter and retweet the status post I’ve linked below. Good luck! I’ve also linked my character showcase for the two new cheesy characters, so go check ’em out!
UPDATE: My Cheetos code giveaway is now over, so please don’t retweet the post below. However, you can still have a chance to win a code during my livestreams on Twitch over the next few days, so feel free to stop by the livestream and hang out! I hope you enjoy your stay. 😉
This week, the PopCap team announced that Plants vs Zombies: Garden Warfare will be coming out for both PS3 and PS4 on August 19th. Players who pre-order for Playstation will also receive exclusive customization items inspired by various PSN titles, including Sly Cooper, Fat Princess, and Ratchet & Clank. PopCap also made a few witty PR posters to tease the Playstation announcement, which I’ve included in my video above.
The Plants vs Zombies team also revealed the minimum PC specifications required to run Garden Warfare, which you can find in my video around 1:40. The PC version of Garden Warfare is set to be released on June 24th. We still haven’t been told when the community-voted Plasma Peashooter will make its debut, but I will update you all if I find out any new information.
I plan on picking up the PC version of PvZ: Garden Warfare soon after it’s released, so hit me up if you’d like to play!
This week Plants vs Zombies: Garden Warfare released their second FREE DLC, called “Zomboss Down”. The DLC includes eight new rare characters, as well as the new Gardens & Graveyards map “Cactus Canyon”, and a slew of new customizations and consumables.
You can check out the showcase episodes for each of the new Zomboss Down rare characters below!
So, it turns out that the PopCap crew must be bigger fans of The Legend of Zelda: Wind Waker than I thought. They make two huge references to the Zelda title in the same area on the Driftwood Shores map in PvZ: Garden Warfare. Plus, a wild Slender Man appears?! You can check out both of these hidden references in my video below!
Also, Game Informer was awesome enough to mention my easter egg video in a recent article, which pretty much made my day. 🙂
I had made a PvZ:GW easter egg video prior to this one, mentioning only the first half of the Wind Waker reference. Unfortunately, I had missed the other half of the easter egg and had to put it in a separate video, above. But to get the full easter egg experience, you can watch the first one HERE.
Last week, our beloved botanical shooter Plants vs Zombies: Garden Warfare cropped up with the Garden Variety Pack, a FREE DLC that features various new additions, including: a new objective-based game mode called “Gnome Bomb”, the medium-sized map “Chomp Town”, new character abilities, and a handful of character customizations. Check out my recent video for my impressions of the Gnome Bomb game mode, and be sure to sub to my YouTube channel for more PvZ: Garden Warfare content!
Also, a special thanks goes out to Machinima Insider for tweeting my video. Thanks for watching! 🙂
Thanks to the little (sticker) shop of horrors, I was able to unlock the vampiric vegetation known as Count Chompula for this rare character showcase! I know I’ve already featured a rare chomper in a recent episode, but I couldn’t wait to show off this Dracula-inspired character. Check out the video for the full showcase.
It’s time for another PvZ: Garden Warfare rare character showcase! In this special double-feature episode, I showcase TWO engineer variants: the Painter, and the Electrician! They are both fun characters, but I’ve gotta say…I do miss the subtle engie buttcrack. 😉 Check out the video for the full showcase.
